Castelli Gabba jersey, Compatto wind vest and Nanoflex arm warmers
When conditions are cold, but not freezing, and with a chance of light rain, it’s this Castelli ensemble that I turn to first. The Gabba jersey shrugs off water in impressive style, as do the Nanoflex arm warmers, sold separately, but such a perfect accompaniment, it’s surprising Castelli don’t bundle them together. They’re super tight, so go up a size if you’re uncertain. For me, it’s a bonus. Sagging arm warmers look ridiculous and let in the cold air.
The conditions in which I reach for the Gabba and Nanoflex arm warmers typically demand a gilet, too. Enter Castelli’s Compatto wind vest, one made from Gore’s Windstopper fabric, widely regarded as the best on the market, and recognizable from the red “Stop”-sign style logo. It’s light, bright, and has a handy Napoleon chest pocket large enough for a bank card in case of emergencies.
