New product of the year
1. Garmin Vector power pedal
2. Garmin Edge 810
3. Campagnolo Super Record 80th Anniversary groupset
Was 2013 the year of the power meter? The long-awaited Garmin Vector power pedal finally hit the market and was worth the wait, voted New Product of the Year by RoadCyclingUK readers.
We were impressed by the technical innovation, simplicity, accuracy and versatility offered by Garmin’s pedal-based power meter, which can be swapped between bikes in a matter of seconds, but raised a question mark over the price and, as a result, the mainstream appeal.
And that’s reflected in your response. “Great for swapping between, road, track and TT bikes”, “Brilliant idea – just wish they weren’t so expensive” and “A lovely take on the power problem. Easy to set up; can’t wait until they come down in price a bit”, were some of the comments we received.
Garmin also took second spot with the Edge 810 receiving only 15 votes less than the Vector, while Campagnolo’s stunning Super Record 80th Anniversary groupset completes the podium. “A perfect design to commemorate their anniversary. It was great to see this groupset put to great use this season. Campy certainly continue to produce beautiful and effective products after all this time,” wrote one RoadCyclingUK reader.
