Simon Yates’ Scott Addict
Simon Yates’ Scott Addict
Twin brothers they may be, who rode on the same Great Britain team before signing for Orica-GreenEDGE, but the similarities between Adam and Simon Yates do not extend as far as their bikes, it would seem.
While we spotted Adam aboard the Scott Foil in Mallorca in February, brother Simon had opted for the super-light Addict when he earned a Tour de France debut in July.
Claimed to be the first production frameset (i.e. frame and fork) to weigh in at less than 1kg, the Addict returned to the Swiss brand’s range last year.
A new carbon layup, more commonly used in military application, is at the heart of the frame’s light weight.
Like his brother’s Foil, Simon Yates’ Scott was equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Dura-Ace wheels, PRO handlebars and saddle and Prologo finishing kit.
On stage two of the Tour, Yates bike was also equipped with a Shimano Sport Cam, perhaps a glimpse into the future of cycling broadcasting.
