Christmas gift guide 2013: money no object ‘dream list’

A superbike? A shop? A WorldTour team? If you had unlimited funds, what could you buy this Christmas?

If money is no object, why keep it all to yourself? Invest, share the love and make even more money if you do it right by purchasing a shop.

Sigma Sport’s ‘destination store’ in Hampton Wick became a cycling mecca when the Olympics were in town, and the company, which started from humble beginnings, has welcomed almost every cyclist in London and Surrey across its gilded threshold.

Sigma Sport moved to their ‘destination store’ in 2009. The former office block was converted at a cost of £1m

Covering the costs of purchasing and converting an old office block, co-founder Ian Whittingham told us he is more than confident than ever as the cycling market continues to boom.

Sigma Sport’s £1 million store covers 9,000 sq ft, taking the brand’s total retail space up to 13,000 sq ft – and Whittingham believes the store has raised the bar for cycle retail.

So if you fancy a piece of the British cycling boom, where could you start?

Well London is too obvious – and besides, Sigma Sport have that covered, but Lizzie Armitstead insists Yorkshire is the world’s best cycling destination.

Still not convinced? How about a bite of Welsh cycling’s rise and rise in the valleys?

Either way, if your nearest and dearest have a seven figure sum lying spare in the bank, a shop could make the ideal gift.
