An Evening with Vin Cox: The Great Bike Ride

Vin Cox covered 18,225.7 miles on his round-the-world journey

Vin Cox will be hosting a talk about his 18,225.7-mile round-the-world record on Thursday June 23.

In February 2010, Cox set off “in search of adventure, in aid of charity, and inpursuit of a world record.”

Join him for the full story of his adventure at the Assembly Rooms, Derby, with the evening starting at 7:30pm.

Cox will be revealing anecdotes about all corners of the world – from ‘spying’ in Egypt, to an earthquake in Sumatra, snakes in Australia, a weather bomb in New Zealand and riding in the heat of Death Valley. His story will be illustrated with photographs and video clips fromthe journey.

“I found a burger bar for lunch, and then found a cycle shop,” said Cox. “I spent an hour having a mini service and buying supplies such as padded cycling shorts – the fantastic Adidas ones I’d set off with had reached the end of their life being less comfortable to wear, and worn so thin I was mooning the traffic.”
