Having spotted it in a side room on a recent visit to the firm’s factory in Nevers, France, I was pleased to see LOOK’s stunning X85 cyclo-cross bike on their stand at Eurobike.
The all-carbon frame and fork (excepting aluminium dropouts with disc brake caliper mounts) weigh 1150g and 550g respectively for size M. Constructed using 120gsm carbon with 3K finish and using LOOK’s tube-to-tube technology, the X85 has tubes dialled to deliver differential lateral and vertical rigidity – around 25% according to LOOK – in order to provide a superior ride over rough terrain.
Design details include 27.2mm seatpost compatibility, suitability for 160mm brake discs and a 135m rear dropout spacing that will allow the frame to accept any disc hub 29’er mtb wheel. It will accept cable or hydraulic brake operation but the complete cycle is expected to have cable operation when it arrives in the UK in spring 2012. Sizes are XS, S, M, L, XL or 49, 51, 53, 55 and 57cm.
Complete specification and price TBC.
