Sir Bradley Wiggins' Paris-Roubaix farewell
Sir Bradley Wiggins' Paris-Roubaix farewell
Is Sir Bradley Wiggins one of the greatest cyclists ever? If he can win at Paris-Roubaix in his final race, it will only strengthen the case.
Champion on the track, Britain’s first ever Tour de France winner and in a league of his own at the World Championships in Ponferrada when he secured time trial gold.
And while Wiggins’ switch back to the boards, which will see him take on the hour record and join his new UCI Continental line-up, Team Wiggins, brings an end to a memorable chapter of his career at Team Sky, there is still chance for a final hurrah.
Wiggins was widely written off last year when he announced he would take on the pavé of Paris-Roubaix, but the Team Sky man was in the lead group until Niki Terpstra broke clear and soloed to victory.
Alongside Geraint Thomas, who also finished in the top-ten last year, and fit-again Ian Stannard, could this be the year for a long overdue British win in the Queen of the Classics?
