Stage five: Harwich to Bury St Edmunds (108.1km) – Sunday May 11, 2014
The Bridge Street climb offers the first test on the final stage: a 1.2km slope that climbs steadily in the first 700m before reaching a plateau between 800m and 1.1km and a final kick. Alexie S tops the leaderboard on a climb for a climb that tops out at 119m. Her time of 3.05 was acheived at an average speed of 23.4km and with an average power output of 261 watts.
Riders hoping to clinch final points in the Womens’ Tour will need to be well positioned for the ascent of The Causeway in Hitcham. At 1.5km long, it offers sufficient space for an extended battle, while an average gradient of two per cent doesn’t tell the full story of a climb that rises suddently from a lowest eletaion of 29m. Just one time has been recorded by a female rider, and so Joanne Bevis tops the leaderboard with a time of 4.20, achieved at an average speed of 21.3kmh and with an average power output of 139 watts.
