All roads lead to Yorkshire: where to be during the Grand Départ weekend

The white rose county prepares for an invasion of cycling fans

The huge Harewood House estate will welcome the peloton when it passes down the driveway of the giant country house, and the estate have joined forces with outdoor brand Dare 2b to launch the Dare 2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling. Organisers hope the event will be the first of many, with the grounds providing the perfect location to line the route, or follow a guided ride along some of the same roads to be used by the pros during the weekend.

The expansive grounds of Harewood House forms part of the Tour de France route and will also stage the Dare 2b Yorkshire Festival of Cycling

And it is not just organisers getting excited by it – former Tour de France champion Oscar Pereiro, a Dare 2b ambassador, told RCUK the grounds were perfect for a ‘big, big party’, which is exactly what will be happening from Friday July 4 to Sunday July 6. The sports festival will have big screens showing World Cup football alongside the Tour, while bespoke trails, an army assault course and lazer quest are among the other activities planned for the weekend.
