Team of the Year
1. Team Sky
2. Great Britain women’s team pursuit
3. Movistar
A second British Tour de France champion riding for a British team. With Chris Froome voted British Road Rider of the Year it’s fitting for the champion’s support cast, Team Sky, to be recognised as Team of the Year.
While Froome dominated almost every stage race he entered in 2013, Team Sky enjoyed plenty of success aside from the 28-year-old, with Richie Porte winning Paris-Nice, Rigoberto Uran finishing second at the Giro d’Italia and Bradley Wiggins returning to form with victory at the Tour of Britain.
Great Britain’s women’s team pursuit squad – a revolving line-up of Laura Trott, Dani King, Joanna Rowsell, Elinor Barker and Katie Archibald – smashed world record after world record in 2013 to take second spot behind Team Sky and ahead of Movistar, who topped the WorldTour team rankings at the end of the season.
