Canyon have presented Joaquim Rodriguez with a custom Aeroad CF ahead of the 2014 season to celebrate the Spaniard’s status as the world’s number one rider.
Rodriguez rode the Aeroad CF throughout 2013, a season which ended with the Katusha rider at the top of the world ranking, and Purito will once again ride Canyon’s aero road bike this year.
It’s a bike with significant pedigree. The Aeroad was introduced in 2011 and Philippe Gilbert rode it to the top of the UCI’s world rankings while riding for the Canyon-sponsored Lotto team. Rodriguez then topped the rankings aboard the Aeroad in 2012, before repeating the feat last year.
Katusha are one of two teams sponsored by Canyon after the German brand also signed a deal to supply bikes to Movistar. Both teams will have three bikes at their disposal: the Aeroad CF, Ultimate CF SLX (voted Bike of the Year 2013 by RoadCyclingUK readers) and the Speedmax CF time trial machine.
Let’s take a closer look at Rodriguez’s custom machine.
