Elder statesmen Evans and Voigt show the way Down Under

He promised a strong ride in his home country to kick-start his 2014 season ahead of a bid for victory at this year’s Giro d’Italia, and Aussie legend Cadel Evans delivered exactly that.

We commented yesterday on how the former world and Tour de France champion appeared to be enjoying the first Tour Down Under he has contested since his maillot jaune win.

His display of power on Corkscrew Hill was simply unmatchable, and as he soloed into the overall lead it left us plenty to ponder at the halfway point in the season-opening race.
