UCI WorldTour 2013: the ten best bunch sprints

Ten of the best high-octane clashes between cycling's fast men

Lotto-Belisol put a lot of work into their sprint trains over the winter, as we discovered first-hand during the off-season.

And such dedication reaped immediate rewards this season when Andre Greipel won the first stage of the year’s opening WorldTour race – the Tour Down Under.

Greipel referred to his team-mates as the ‘Lotto-Belisol motorbikes’ after the race, comparing them to motorcycle outriders, and the work of his team-mates ensured victory was never in doubt for the ‘Gorilla’.

Packing the front of the bunch, the Belgian team’s dominance in the final kilometres ensured their rival trains were completely cramped for space.

And the clockwork-like lead-out came to fruition as the giant German powered to a comfortable victory to take the leader’s jersey.
