Five steps to riding a major European sportive

Your route from local sportive to Continental challenge

Domestic event

Building up gradually over time is never a bad thing and finding a domestic event that can be used as a stepping stone to gauge form and condition is certainly a sensible approach. Not only that but it gives you an opportunity to test out kit, nutrition, riding in a pack and anything else prior to your main event.

Wiggle’s sportive series start in the spring and run throughout the year. With a huge selection of courses, some flatter like the New Forest event others more demanding such as the Jurassic Beast, and with distances to cater for all abilities they really are a good introduction to build confidence and get you moving in the right direction.
