Sunday March 16
Starting out from Minsterley Village Hall, near Shrewsbury, the Shropshire Devil certainly lives up to its name with some devilishly difficult climbs en-route.
Two options are available – 48 miles and 85 miles – with the former designed to be fairly flat and containing a total of 1,400 metres of climbing.
However, the hillier 85-mile route, which takes in climbs such as the Burway, Stiperstones and Long Mountain, contains 2,840 vertical metres of elevation.
Food stops are available on the route, inside village halls with toilets available, with riders encouraged to take advantage of them as part of the event experience, while Muc-Off – suppliers to Team Sky – will have lube and bike care products available at the feed stations and at the event HQ.
Timing is done via a computer system, with the entry fee of £28 also including a marked route, maps, a medical team on course, food provided by the award-winning Drover’s Rest restaurant and a broom wagon.
All finishers will be presented with a medal.
