Six sportives to tackle before Easter

March sees the sportive season begins in earnest

Sunday March 23

The Wiggle Cheshire Cat starts out from the Alexandra Stadium on Gresty Road, Crewe, and gives riders the choice of three routes – 40 miles, 75 miles and 100 miles.

Starting with a closed-road hill climb of Mow Cop – which ramps up to 25 per cent – the route also includes Gun Hill, as used in the past for the Tour of Britain.

How are you climbing legs after a winter’s training?

The longest route packs in 1,800 metres of climbing, much of which is in the undulating first half of the sportive.

As the roads level out, the Chesire Cast then also takes in some of the county’s most notable landmarks, including the Jodrell Bank Telescope and Beeston Castle as the passes along the Cheshire Plain.
