The Prolight SLX II (as it’s now known) is Giro’s updated top-of-the-range race shoe. Besides fit, weight – or lack of it – is the shoe’s raison d’être, with claimed weight an impressive 205g. The shoe comes with a super-light version of the Super Natural Fit System footbed to help achieve that.
The supple ‘Evofibre’ upper combines microfibre and mesh in one seamless fabric to ensure water resistance and breathability, while titanium strap rings also contribute to the low weight. The three-strap closure system gives the shoe a minimalist look and we loved the contrast colour options.
The shoe uses Easton’s EC90 SLX carbon fibre sole, with a low stack height of 6.5mm and replaceable heel pads, which is a noteable nod to durability on a race shoe of this nature.
The Prolight SLX II will be available in three colours (matt black/gloss white, fluorescent orange/black and all white) and sizes from 40-48 (including half sizes from 40.5 to 46.5). Retail price is £299.99.
