Jersey will host a round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series for the first time next summer after being selected as the final location the 2014 season.
Britain’s unique team-based series will be held over ten rounds during midweek evenings in May and June – with the dates now announced and the full list of venues to follow soon.
Top domestic teams from across the country will bid to succeed last summer’s champions – the Nigel Mansell-owned TeamUK Youth – as Pearl Izumi Tour Series champions.
This summer’s campaign saw rounds hosted in Kirkcaldy, Durham, Stoke-on-Trent, Aberystwyth, Torquay, Colchester, Redditch, Canary Wharf, Woking, Aylsham and Ipswich.
And the sixth edition will see the roadshow head to the Channel Islands for the first time as Jersey will follow Southend-on-Sea, Canary Wharf, Stoke-on-Trent, Woking and Ipswich by hosting the grand final.
Two wins apiece for Welshman Yanto Barker and Cornwall’s Chris Opie and a further win for Jon Mould were central to Team UK Youth’s success in the 2013 series.
Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy (Rapha Condor-JLT) picked up three individual wins to help his team to third overall, while team mate Kristian House was victorious in Durham.
Team Raleigh’s New Zealander, Tom Scully, also won two stages – including the final round in Ipswich – as British fans were treated to fast-paced city-centre circuit races.
All races were – and will again be next year – televised with all highlights shown on ITV4 the following evenings.
